DAY 2 - Schilthorn, the filming location of the 007 movie

10 Days 9 Nights Switzerland & Germany Trip, October

Afternoon of Day 2

🌏Schilthorn
Altitude 2,970 meters
View of 200 mountains including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau

Bought a quick salad at Coop in Grindelwald Terminal for lunch and set off. Getting to the Schilthorn is a bit complicated, but well worth the trip, especially for the stunning scenery along the way.

🌏First, take the train to Lauterbrunnen (about 30 minutes), then transfer to a cable car to Grütschalp (about 15 minutes), then transfer to a small train to Mürren (about 20 minutes), then walk 15 minutes from Mürren to the Schilthornbahn, and take a cable car to Birg or Schilthorn (about 18 minutes).

🌏A full day would be ideal here. The little train's color scheme is adorable, the town of Mürren is beautiful, with photo opportunities everywhere and numerous restaurants.

🌏At the PIZ GLORIA 360-degree revolving restaurant, you can enjoy an Irish coffee while taking in the snow-capped mountain views. A complete rotation takes 55 minutes. This is a filming location for the James Bond film "Her Majesty's Secret Service," so James Bone figures are everywhere. Be sure to visit the restrooms; there's a little surprise when you flush.

🌏Back in Lauterbrunnen, you can visit the waterfalls. This town boasts 72 waterfalls of varying sizes; this time we visited Staubbach Falls, about a 10-minute walk from the cable car station. Along the way, we saw a long queue at a Turkish kebab stall—very generous and delicious.
