Yinggehai ~ Come to Hainan to see the "snow" in winter

🍀Yinggehai is a sea that sounds romantic, and it is also the name of a romantic town.
Legend has it that in the Southern Song Dynasty, people from Putian crossed the Qiongzhou Strait and moved south to a place where many "Yingge" birds lived to avoid the war. They named it Yinggezui. Later, as the population grew, it was renamed a village. Later, when the town was built, the town government was located here, and the village became a town.
🍀The Yinggehai Salt Field, the second largest salt field in my country, is located on the east side of Yinggehai Town. The salt field faces the sea and is backed by Jianfengling. There is a sand embankment barrier in front and shelter from wind and rain in the back. There is no fresh water injection around it, the salt content is extremely high, and there are strong winds and sunshine. The excellent conditions make it a rare treasure land for salt drying.
The Japanese army that invaded Hainan and the subsequent Kuomintang government both intended to develop salt fields here, but history ultimately did not give them the opportunity.
It was not until the special period of the "Great Leap Forward" in 1958 that the salt field was finally built after two years of hard work by tens of thousands of people digging in the swamp mud with their hands and carrying on their shoulders.
It once set a production record of 320,000 tons of salt per year. At high tide, seawater flows into the water storage lake from the tidal gate, and is transferred to layers of evaporation pools through pumping stations. The seawater concentration gradually increases to become brine, and then enters the crystallization area for saturated crystallization. The seawater has since been reborn and has a physical form.
During its heyday, the salt field had supporting facilities such as railways, chemical plants, power plants, power machinery plants, cement component plants, meteorological stations, hospitals, and primary and secondary schools.

Guo Moruo once composed a poem for it: A sea of salt fields with endless expanses of singing birds, a paradise of eternal spring all year round; the sun is driven to charge like charcoal fire, drying up the sea water to turn it into a mountain of silver.
