Walking in the Clouds on Mount Wawu: Standing on the Summit of the "Table Mountain" to Reflect on Life

Mount Wawu, shaped like a square-shaped cauldron, stands between heaven and earth, inspiring awe at the wonders and beauty of nature.

Standing on the summit platform of Mount Wawu at an altitude of 2,830 meters, overlooking the rolling sea of clouds and gazing at the endless mountain peaks, one truly experiences the meaning of "One must reach the summit to see all other mountains as small." This is the world's second-largest flat-topped table mountain, renowned for its unique geological wonders and elegant natural scenery, making one marvel at nature’s craftsmanship.

01 Masterpiece of Nature, Table Mountain Wonder

Mount Wawu is named for its shape resembling a "tiled roof" and is a rare flat-topped table mountain globally, with a summit platform covering about 11 square kilometers. From any angle, the mountain as a whole looks like a tiled roof.

Its unique geological structure is praised as one of the "Two Wonders of Shu," on par with Mount Emei. The Ming Dynasty poet Yang Shaoji once admired: "Mount Wawu’s cold piles of snow after spring, Mount Emei’s green sweeps after the rain."

02 Beautiful Scenery in All Seasons, Each with Its Own Charm

Mount Wawu is beautiful all year round, with distinct seasonal charms.

In spring (April-May), rhododendrons and dove trees bloom. When hundreds of thousands of acres of dove trees blossom, a gentle breeze makes it seem like a mountain full of peaceful doves flying. Summer’s average temperature is about 20°C, making it an excellent summer retreat. Autumn paints the forest in layers of red leaves. Winter covers the mountain in ice and snow, perfect for skiing and admiring ice waterfalls.

03 Must-Experience Attractions and Activities

When climbing Mount Wawu, don’t miss these experiences:

· Hiking the Lanxi Cliff Plank Road: This tests your strength, endurance, and courage. The plank road is built along a sheer cliff, suspended in the air, making you feel like you’re walking on clouds. The Lanxi Waterfall has a drop of 1,040 meters, one of the world’s tallest waterfalls.
· Riding Asia’s Longest Cable Car: The Gufoping Cable Car is the longest in Asia. As you slowly ascend, you can overlook the magnificent scenery of Mount Wawu, with distant mountains, forests, and the sea of clouds all in view.
· Enjoying Yanu Lake: The lake’s water is clear and emerald green, calm as a mirror, surrounded by mountains. The scenery reflects in the lake like a painting. Strolling by the lake with a gentle breeze is very pleasant.
