4-Day Tibet Self-Drive Itinerary | Classic Plateau Tour

🌟 You can visit Lhasa, Tibet many times and never get tired of it. I recommend flying to Lhasa and renting a car for a self-drive tour. Be sure to rest after arriving in Lhasa before going out to play and adapt to the high-altitude life.

🌟 About accommodation, I stayed at the self-driving holy land Pingcuo Kangsan Hotel, a famous hotel in Lhasa with a good reputation. The hotel is beautifully landscaped, and the complimentary map is very useful.

🌟 On the first day, the Potala Palace is a must-see. Visit the Red Palace and the White Palace and admire the artistic treasures of Tibetan Buddhism. The tour guide said that gold is the least valuable treasure in the Potala Palace. Diamonds, gems, and rare treasures are all priceless.
Then go to the nearby Norbulingka, a typical Tibetan-style garden known as the "Summer Palace" of Tibet. Exotic flowers and plants, red and white walls, yellow tiles, and golden roofs are simply beautiful.
Then go to Yaowang Mountain, take out the back of the 50 yuan RMB, and take a photo with the RMB, which is the best place to take pictures of the Potala Palace.

🌟 On the second day, go to Barkhor Street to experience the life of Lhasa, taste Tibetan snacks, and buy Tibetan handicrafts.
Then go to the Jokhang Temple next to it, which is a paradise for pilgrims. Many believers prostrate themselves, kowtow, and worship Buddha. We walked to the inner prayer path and followed the believers on the pilgrimage road.
Then go to the Ramoche Temple to learn about the history of Tibetan Buddhism and admire the exquisite murals and Buddha statues.
Finally, go to Sera Monastery, one of the largest temples in Lhasa, built in the early 17th century. There is a debate activity at 3 pm. Although you may not understand it, the atmosphere is very interesting and fun.

🌟 On the third day, drive to Pumoyongcuo for about three and a half hours, passing through Yamdrok Lake.
Yamdrok Lake is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. The lake is crystal clear, and the scenery is magnificent. Enjoy the natural scenery along the way.
Drive to Pumoyongcuo, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake along the way, and experience the tranquility and mystery of the plateau lake.

🌟 On the fourth day, drive to Namtso for more than two hours.
Namtso is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet, about 200 kilometers from Lhasa. The Holy Elephant Heaven Gate is permanently closed, waiting for it to be reopened in your lifetime. Namtso Lake is clear, surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
You can also enjoy the magnificent starry sky at night. Prepare to go home at night and end the four-day trip.

⚠️ Notes: Lhasa is at a high altitude, so be careful to prevent altitude sickness. Drink Rhodiola ginger tea every day, and carry capsules and oxygen tanks with you. Photography is prohibited in Tibetan temples, so respect local cultural customs.
Tibet checks ID cards at any time, so carry them with you.
