Nestled in the mountains and waters of southern Guizhou lies Xiaoqikong, known as the "Green Gem on Earth's Belt." Here, nature and culture intertwine, beginning an extraordinary journey from the moment you step in.
The Seven-Arch Ancient Bridge: A Testament to Time
The Xiaoqikong scenic area is named after its ancient stone bridge with seven arches, built in the 15th year of the Daoguang period during the Qing Dynasty. Spanning the Xiangshui River, it was once a vital trade route between Guizhou and Guangxi. In the past, the bridge echoed with horse hooves and merchants' calls, witnessing countless moments of prosperity. Today, though no longer bearing heavy loads, it exudes historical charm. Vines embrace the bridge's structure, while crystal-clear pools beneath reflect its story. Touching the ancient stones, you can almost feel the warmth of centuries past.
A Natural Paradise of Divine Craftsmanship
Xiaoqikong's beauty is nature's masterpiece. The Laya Waterfall, 10 meters wide and over 30 meters high, takes its name from the Buyi word for "beautiful maiden." It cascades like silver silk, its mist bringing refreshing coolness. The 68-tier waterfall drops through a 1.6-kilometer valley - "68" symbolizing good fortune in Buyi culture - creating an impressive and dynamic waterfall cluster. The Water Forest is truly remarkable, with trees rooted in underwater rocks and riverbeds, creating a fairytale-like scene where visitors walk through water among standing trees. The Cuigu Waterfall, surrounded by peaks and reaching over 60 meters high, creates a dreamlike curtain of water. The Wolong Pool's tranquil waters are flanked by pristine karst vegetation, with fish occasionally leaping from the surface, full of vitality.
Exciting New Adventures
Today's Xiaoqikong offers novel experiences while preserving its natural beauty. Gear up for jungle adventures, weaving through forests for an adrenaline rush; try waterfall rappelling for an exciting descent; paddle in kayaks or ride transparent boats to appreciate the emerald waters from different perspectives. As night falls, camp near the scenic area, fall asleep to insect songs, and wake to sunlight for a perfectly relaxing experience.
