Lijiashan Village is located 5 kilometers south of the Yellow River in Qikou Town, Linxian County, Shanxi Province. It is hidden deep in the mountains. It gradually became known to the world because of Wu Guanzhong's paintings.
Most of the buildings in the village are cave dwellings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and they are relatively well preserved. These cave dwellings combine the trend of the mountains and are layered on top of each other, so they are called the Little Potala Palace. Walking to the opposite hillside, you can see the entire village unfolding in front of you like a scroll (P2, 3).
There is not much acquired development here, and it perfectly displays the style of Shanxi cave villages. Nowadays, most of the people living in the village are elderly people, and many cave dwellings are overgrown with weeds, making them look ancient and vicissitudes of life. If you want to better experience the loess style, you can stay overnight. There are some farmhouses in the village.
Li Yinlan’s family:
Wu Guanzhong stayed here twice when he was collecting folk songs. It is considered to be a better cave dwelling in the village, and the location has a good view (P4~9). You can also climb up to see far away.
Li Jianxin’s home:
Located high in the village, it is easy to go to the opposite hillside from his house to see the panoramic view of Lijiashan Mountain.
