Unplanned visit at Danxia colorful mountains

Arriving in Zhangye, we wanted to visit Binggou Danxia in order to avoid the crowds.
After some research, we decided to go to the bus station early in the morning and take the bus. However, upon arrival, we were informed by the staff that the park was temporarily closed 😱
Disappointed and tired (we woke up at 5.30am to be at the station at 6.30 am), we decided to change our plans and go to the Danxia colorful mountain. We got lucky as there were still tickets available to go there at 7.45 am. We waited an hour and then boarded. Thinking it would take some time to reach the destination, I took a good nap on the bus, and was surprised when I woke up 20 minutes later, at the entrance. 😴
We bought tickets at the west gate and immediately boarded the sightseeing bus.
It is actually well organized inside the park. The bus is going around a loop, so you just have to go down at each stop, walk around, go up some stairs (actually quite a lot in some areas) and enjoy the marvelous scenery.
Luckily for us, we entered the park early and were able to witness the different colors on the mountains. However, as the weather got more and more cloudy, the colors became harder to spot. But do not fear, even if you don't see the colors, you will still enjoy the park as the desertic mountains offer a peculiar atmosphere.
I would suggest trying and sitting at the front right side of the bus when going from one area to another so you can admire the road and take some good videos.
Some activities can be experienced such as a short flight in a hot hair balloon, helicopter flight, camel ride, etc. Though the prices are quite high, it seems to be the right place to go through such an adventure as the surrounding areas are breathtaking.
Before we knew it, we were back at the entrance and wished there was more to see. We then walked to the museum which seems like it's quite new. Lots of panels are translated in English which was appreciated here.
We then headed back to Zhangye and took a good rest for the rest of the day.
