The witness of a century of ups and downs, the City God

The most special thing about Hsinchu City God Temple is its profound folk activities and cultural value. Every year on the 25th day of the seventh lunar month is the birthday of the City God. The City God Temple will hold a grand "procession". A colorful team composed of sedan chairs, parades, opera troupes, and art pavilions will walk through the streets and alleys to protect the country and the people and drive away evil spirits. It attracts thousands of believers and tourists to participate in the celebration. It is one of the most representative religious and cultural celebrations in Hsinchu.

The temple building itself is meticulously carved, and the dragon pillars, woodwork, and paintings are all made by famous craftsmen. The ancient plaques from the Qing Dynasty "威灵赫奕" and "圣神昭济" are preserved on the beams of the main hall. They are important cultural relics that witness the history of Hsinchu Wind City. The front of the temple is now very lively. During the day, it is a crowded market, and at night it becomes a place for locals to gather and chat. Faith and life are blended here.
