A rare shrine with a tropical atmosphere

#Travelwithme

Aoshima Shrine is said to have existed for over 1200 years on a small island surrounded by wavy rocks known as the Devil's Washboard.

You can reach the shrine by crossing a bridge while enjoying the seaside scenery.

The entire island is designated as a special natural monument by the government as a habitat for tropical and subtropical plants, and its mysterious appearance, covered with palm trees, which are rare in Japan, creates a tropical atmosphere.

It is said to be beneficial for matchmaking and safe childbirth as it enshrines the husband and wife deities Yamasachihiko, Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto, and Toyotamahime-no-Mikoto.

In the precincts, there are various places to make prayers, such as the Umitsu-no-harae, Sanrei-gami-tsuji, and Ten-no-hira-hanage, and I was able to enjoy visiting the shrine.
