Zhaoxing Dong Village is located in Liping County, Guizhou Province, China. It is one of the largest and most well-preserved Dong ethnic minority villages in the country. Recognized as a national 4A-level tourist attraction, the village is renowned for its traditional wooden architecture, including drum towers and stilted houses.
Key Features of Zhaoxing Dong Village:
Architecture: The village is famous for its five iconic drum towers and a number of "wind and rain" bridges. The drum towers are constructed entirely from wood and are named after the five traditional virtues: Ren (benevolence), Yi (righteousness), Li (courtesy), Zhi (wisdom), and Xin (faithfulness).
Culture: The village is predominantly inhabited by the Dong ethnic minority and is a center for experiencing authentic Dong culture. The Dong people are known for their polyphonic singing, known as the Dong Grand Song, which is a key cultural highlight.
