Fuzhou Cryptomeria King Park is located in Fuzhou's Guling Scenic Area. It's named after a 30-meter-tall, 10-meter-circumference, and 3.2-meter-diameter Cryptomeria King. It's also the highest park in Fujian Province. Guling, Fuzhou, is a famous summer resort. In the old days, when people were living in poverty and hardship, many foreigners, while visiting Fuzhou, built small, square-stone villas in Guling to escape the heat. These villas were called "Summer Resorts."
Cryptomeria, also known as the "Three Spring Willow" or "Red Willow," resembles both pine and fir. Guling boasts numerous groves of Cryptomeria, with dozens of trees dating back hundreds of years. The most famous of these is the "Cedar King," a tree found in the park. Historical records indicate this majestic tree is over 1,300 years old. The "Cedar King" remains lush and green year-round, with a central branch split into two, earning it the nicknames "Couple Tree" and "Lover Tree." The "Cedar King" has been designated a protected ancient and famous tree in China.
The Cryptomeria King Park cannot be said to be a place where people will linger, but because of the fame of the "Cymeria King" many people come here, and most people think that the park is the best attraction in Guling Scenic Area and even in the entire Fuzhou City.
