Phra Narai Ratchaniwet Palace, also known as Narai Palace, is one of the most significant historical landmarks in Lopburi. Built during the reign of King Narai the Great, it served as a royal residence during the rainy season, as well as a venue for hosting foreign dignitaries and ambassadors. The palace was a central hub of political, cultural, and international relations during the Ayutthaya period.
The palace grounds feature several buildings that beautifully blend Thai and Western architectural styles, such as the Suttha Sawan Pavilion and Dusit Sawan Thanya Maha Prasat Pavilion. Despite over three centuries having passed, these structures remain stunning and valuable, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of the past.
In addition to exploring the ancient architecture, visitors can also visit the Somdet Phra Narai National Museum, which showcases artifacts, royal regalia, and items used in the royal court. This museum provides an in-depth look into Thai history in a warm and simple atmosphere.
