Wat Xieng Thong (ວັດຊຽງທອງ) is a famous temple in Luang Prabang.
It is a highlight that should not be missed. It is a temple with Lan Xang art and is also the place where the sacred Buddha image is enshrined.
And it is one of the most important in Luang Prabang.
Wat Xieng Thong was built around 2103 by King Sai Setthathirat, the ruler of the Lan Xang Kingdom.
It is located near the Mekong River. It is an important temple for the people of Luang Prabang.
The highlight of Wat Xieng Thong is the Sim or Ubosot, which is considered a very famous architecture. It is a Sim that clearly reflects Lan Xang art.
Inside the Sim is the principal Buddha image or the royal Buddha image.
Another popular spot for tourists is the Reclining Buddha Hall, where the outer walls are painted in rose pink. It is a spot where many people must go to admire its beauty.
And do not miss taking pictures. The walls have patterns made from glass. Tells a folktale with a moral lesson.
- There is an entrance fee of 20,000 kip. If you want to take beautiful pictures, I recommend coming early in the morning because there are usually quite a few tour groups.
- Opening and closing times are 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
