🗿 Longmen Grottoes: Intricately Carved into the Mountain

🌧️ Even though it was raining, the Longmen Grottoes didn't diminish the beauty of the grottoes at all. Instead, they added a mystical atmosphere and a unique charm. In fact, it wasn't hot at all, but rather wet. 😅

Located along the Yijiang River in Luoyang, Henan Province, the grotto is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the "Three Great Stone Carving Arts of China," along with the Mogao Caves and Yungang Grottoes.

The splendid caves are carved into the cliff face to create over 2,100 caves. Inside, over 100,000 Buddha statues and 3,600 stele inscriptions reflect the delicacy and faith of people over a thousand years ago.

Walking around each corner, you'll encounter intricately carved images of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, deities, angels, and even doorkeepers. Some caves even have murals that remain powerfully beautiful even after ages.

The Longmen Grottoes are more than just a tourist attraction; they're a living open-air museum, perfectly recounting the history, art, and faith that have been passed down for over a thousand years.

✨ It was a wonderful experience to be here. I now understand why many consider it one of the most remarkable World Heritage Sites and a must-visit.
