My dears, there is a Lianfeng Temple with a very interesting story hidden in Rua do Almirante in Macau! It was built around the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Its ancient name was Tianfei Temple. It is one of the three ancient temples in Macau and has a history of nearly 400 years.
This was once the residence of Qing Dynasty officials who came to Macau, and it is also called the official temple. The temple consists of three rooms connected horizontally, with two entrances, front and back. The central hall of the first entrance is dedicated to the Queen Mother of Heaven. The magnificent square worship pavilion in front of the hall was once the residence of officials handling cases. The central hall of the second entrance is dedicated to Guanyin. The side halls also enshrine gods such as Guandi, Yiling Emperor, Shennong, etc., where Buddha, gods and humans live in harmony.
The temple houses the Lingnan-style grey sculptures of dragons and phoenixes, which do not require firing but are shaped and coloured on site. The plaque with the inscription "Chinese and Foreign Grace" from the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty is the oldest plaque in Australia. There is also an A-Po Stone in front of the temple, which witnessed the assassination of Macau colonist Amaral by Shen Mi and others in 1849.
In 1839, Lin Zexu met with the Portuguese here. Today, a statue of Lin Zexu stands in front of the temple. The Lin Zexu Memorial Hall next to it houses precious pictures and cultural relics such as the Burning of Opium at Humen. Stepping into the Lianfeng Temple is like walking into the historical corridor of Macau, feeling the unique charm of the interweaving of ancient and modern times, it is worth checking in~#澳门景点
