El Retiro Park

A visit to Madrid isn't complete without a stroll through the stunning Retiro Park (Parque del Retiro). The serene environment is incredibly soothing! You'll see locals lounging under the shade of grand trees, rowing boats on the large pond, and enjoying a truly relaxing atmosphere. I even came across a tree that looked like a bunch of grapes! 😝
Spanning over 125 hectares, the park was once a retreat for the Spanish royal family in the 16th century and was only opened to the public in the late 19th century.
Although the iconic Crystal Palace is currently under renovation (the sign says the work will continue until 2026), I stumbled upon the beautiful Rose Garden instead. 💗 While May to June is the peak blooming season for roses, even in September, the roses are still in full bloom and absolutely stunning.
Located near the Prado Museum, you can easily plan to visit both on the same day!
