A cute and cozy half day trip

Exploring Mae On and Mae Kampong Village is the ultimate escape for nature lovers and those chasing authentic northern Thai vibes 🌳🥾. The morning scenes here are Instagram gold, especially if you get in before the crowds.

Must-See Place
Mae Kampong Village
Address: V982+695, Huai Kaeo, Mae On District, Chiang Mai 50130, Thailand
Hours: Open all day, year-round

Start your half-day adventure early to catch the village at its quietest. If you're on a budget (who isn't?), hop on a shared van from Chiang Mai city — it's a wallet-friendly and scenic ride, with lush mountain views along the way.

A one-day or even half-day visit is perfect. Dive into local eats — try Khao Soi, grilled sausage, fresh coffee at some great cafés in the area. The food here is flavorful and affordable. As far as I can see, most places starts their business at 9AM.

Getting There & Around
Shared vans are your go-to for cost and convenience, departing regularly from Chiang Mai. I took the 7:40AM ride and arrive around 9AM. Once at the village, everywhere walkable — or you can grab a local pick-up car to get to the waterfall and viewpoint for 20thb/person for one way.

Travel Tips
Note that you should carry cash as most places don’t take cards. And but on comfy shoes if you plan to walk up yourself as the road is sloppy.
