It's one of nearly 200 resorts on the island of Maldives, located north of the capital city of Male, about an hour by seaplane from Male.
Each hotel is a private island. Some hotels include food and beverages, but Le Meridien doesn't. They offer half-board and full-board. I booked a room with breakfast included, which cost an additional $150 per person per day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available at two restaurants: Turquoise and Vela. If there are special events at the restaurants, Or if you're bored and want to try other restaurants, you can get a $50 discount.
This time, I stayed in an Overwater Pool Villa. It's right on the water, and the green water is shallow, so you can stand up. The area is very spacious. There are two sides of the Overwater Villa: West and East. The West side is more beautiful, with a sunset, a Japanese restaurant, and a snorkeling spot.
I think choosing the West or East side is more important than choosing Sunset or Sunrise. My room was on the Sunset side, and I could see the sunset all the way to the island, which was always obscured by clouds.
Most hotels offer water activities for around $100 each. For example, I went on a dolphin watching cruise for $90++, which included drinks. The cruise took about an hour.
The most important thing is to consider your travel styleβhotel-oriented, food-oriented, or diving-orientedβto choose the right hotel for you. The most important factor is the cost, especially the seaplane fare, food on the island, and other activities. I recommend considering this before booking a hotel.
