When it comes to Taiwan's outlying islands, many immediately think of turquoise oceans and exotic scenery. But did you know? You don't have to fly to the European Mediterranean or Italy. Qinbi Village in Matsu's Beigan District can immerse you in a "Taiwanese Mediterranean" atmosphere: turquoise ocean views, stone houses, a cup of coffee with handmade bread. Enjoying breakfast in Qinbi, blissfully overlooking the sea, was one of my most relaxing recent experiences. (I highly recommend going to bed and waking up early to savor the morning's tranquility!)
|Step into the "Matsu Mediterranean" in a Second: Must-See Spots in Qinbi Village
Qinbi Village, located in Matsu's Beigan District, is the most well-preserved settlement of Mindong stone houses in the area. The stone walls here are scattered across the landscape, and the subtle aroma of sea salt wafts through the air. In the early morning or afternoon, sit in a seaside café and be enveloped by the blue sky and sea, and everything slows down.

Itinerary recommendations: Visit Qinbi in the morning and enjoy breakfast at a seaside café. This is the perfect way to experience the slow pace of life in Matsu. Many shops here offer homemade bread, authentic Matsu sausages, and fresh seafood. The view of the blue ocean and the layers of stone walls outside creates a vibrant atmosphere. In addition to the various unique cafes, stalls in the village center sell unique Matsu delicacies, perfect for strolling and enjoying a bite.

|Practical Tips for Matsu
- Qinbi Village retains many B&Bs converted from stone houses. It's recommended to book in advance through the official platform, as reservations can be difficult to obtain during peak season.
- There are only a few small businesses in the village, so it's recommended to stock up on water and snacks. The bread here is delicious and can be enjoyed as a main course for lunch (even solo!).
- Qinbi Village is a great place to visit in all seasons, with the coolest weather in spring and autumn, and the most beautiful ocean views in summer. Sun protection is recommended.
|Transportation Guide
From Nangan, take a boat or speedboat to Beigan. Qinbi Village is only a 10-minute drive from Beigan Airport and Baisha Port. Public buses, scooter rentals, and taxis are also available on the island, making transportation convenient.
Matsu's Qinbi Village is a place where you can simply embrace the sea and sunshine: a cup of coffee, a piece of bread, and a leisurely afternoon—the ideal vacation experience.
