How to Get Around Kamikochi
The only way to travel inside Kamikochi is by walking or local bus/taxi. Private cars are banned.
* Walking is Key: All major attractions are connected by well-maintained, mostly flat hiking trails along the Azusa River.
* Internal Bus: A shuttle bus runs between the Kamikochi Bus Terminal and the Taisho Pond area, offering a shortcut.
* Getting In/Out: Access is strictly limited to low-emission buses or taxis from outside transfer hubs like Sawando (Matsumoto side) or Hirayu Onsen (Takayama side).
