🇯🇵 [Ehime Prefecture] Let's go around Dogo Village! Isaniwa Shrine⛩️

An ancient shrine dating back to the Heian period. The current shrine building was rebuilt in 1667 by the feudal lord Matsudaira Sadanaga, as a thank you for the success of his prayer for a horseback archery event held at Edo Castle. It is modeled after Iwashimizu Hachiman Shrine in Kyoto, and the Hachiman-style shrine building (an important cultural property) with its gold-leaf pillars and the main hall with its intricate carvings and cypress bark roofing conveys the architectural style of the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the present day (^^)
