A small udon restaurant at the end of an alley in the quiet island of Matsuyama Gogoshima (興居島).

The simple signboard and wooden door were impressive, and as soon as I entered, I felt warmth from the owner's warm greeting.

I ordered simple kake udon and fried udon. The broth had a deep and clean anchovy and kelp flavor, so I thought, "Ah, this is the real thing" the moment I took a bite.

The noodles were chewy and had a texture that seemed to have been pulled out, so it was perfect for a warm bowl on the island.

The quiet breeze, birdsong, and the daily life of the island village unfolded across the table, so it was really healing.

If you want the atmosphere of a real Japanese countryside udon restaurant rather than a tourist attraction, this is a must-visit place!
