There is a Buddha statue in Matsuyama!

When you think of Matsuyama, the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, **Dogo Onsen**. On this trip, I had a special early-morning Dogo Onsen experience, followed by a visit to Ishiteji Temple!!!

🌄 Dogo Onsen at Dawn

Before the morning sun had even risen, the streets of Dogo Onsen were quiet and mysterious. Unlike the daytime bustle of tourists, at dawn, only the quaint, old-fashioned building of the main onsen building glowed quietly.
• The baths were filled with warm steam, and the tranquil atmosphere allowed me to experience true healing.
• The water was soft and smooth against my skin, leaving me feeling refreshed and energized for the day ahead.
• Especially since it was early in the morning, only a few locals were using the baths, making it almost like I had rented the entire onsen.

🛕 Visiting a Shikoku Temple

After refreshing myself with a hot spring bath, I took a bus to one of the 88 Shikoku Temples.
• The road to the temple was filled with tranquil countryside scenery and the Seto Inland Sea breeze, creating a calming atmosphere.
• The grounds were bathed in the morning sunlight, creating a refreshing atmosphere, and the scent of incense and wood harmoniously permeated the air.
• The sight of pilgrims in white attire, clasping their hands in prayer, made me realize the profound meaning of the Shikoku Pilgrimage.
• I even put my hands together and lit a candle. It was a new experience in a quiet place.
