Don't just visit the Instagram-famous bridge in Austria

Many people travel to Mayrhofen in Austria specifically for the Instagram-famous bridge. Initially, we planned to visit it as well, but due to snowfall the day before, the hiking trail to the bridge was in poor condition and involved steep climbs. For safety reasons, the hotel owner advised us against going there and instead recommended a hiking trail she personally loves: Gasthaus Wasserfall. This trail is located 9.5 kilometers south of Mayrhofen town along a small road (this stretch can also be hiked, though it involves significant elevation gain). The trail spans approximately 8 kilometers from the reservoir to the foot of the snow-capped mountains, passing through reservoirs, woodlands, and pastures. On the right side, there’s a hiking path along the creek, while the left side is a road suitable for driving or cycling. The route is short, gentle, well-maintained, and stunningly beautiful, with a very low difficulty level—perfect for families. At the 4-kilometer mark, there’s a small shop offering food and drinks, and their dark beer is particularly delicious.
