DAY 1
As soon as we got off the plane, we headed straight to Warkop Agem Senyum for a late-night snack.
Mie Bangladesh’e is like Maggi noodles.
Nasi Prang = Indonesian nasi lemak?
Air Badak isn't "rhino water," it's sarsi soda.
📍DAY 2
Departed for Lake Toba. The drive took about 3 hours.
En route, we stopped by the specialty shop [Paten]. The peanut candies had catchy names.
✨Ting ting, Tong tong, Teng teng
The scenery along the way was lush greenery and numerous churches. 90% of the population here is Christian.
📍Arrived at [Tigaras Pier], boarded a ferry across Lake Toba, and landed on Samosir Island.
🌋Lake Toba Fun Fact: You're actually standing on a volcanic crater! The world's largest volcanic lake was formed by the collapse of a supervolcano approximately 74,000 years ago. Samosir Island is formed by the uplift of the crater's crust. So, walking on the island is like walking on a volcano! 😱
📍 Super Chill [Batu Hoda Beach]
White sand and eco-friendly design
"Kilometer Zero of Samosir Island"
Located at the island's northernmost tip, it truly serves as the geographical starting point.
📍Batak Tribe - Huta Siallagan
Entering the village entrance, you're greeted by a pair of stone statues of a man and woman. The roofs rise high like horns, and there are unique totems:
🦎 Gecko - Guardian of the ancestors
👙 Four breasts - Motherhood and reproduction
The village's "Stone Judge Chair" is used to try serious criminals!
⚖️ Once found guilty, they were subjected to execution:
First, they were severely whipped with the Tunggal Panaluan staff. If the prisoner didn't cry out in pain, lemon juice would be dripped into the wounds for further stimulation, ultimately leading to the final execution.
⚠️ The body would be dismembered and even—cannibalized!
💀 This tradition was designed to absorb the courage and spirit of the enemy.
📍Stay at Tabo Cottage: Gecko x Four-Breasted Reappears!
It blends Batak cultural architecture and is truly mysterious.
📍DAY 3
Lush green grass and blue skies and white clouds—Bukit Burung and Bukit Cinta—isn't this a 'Little Switzerland 🇨🇭'?
From Bukit Cinta, you can even see the world's tallest Christ statue!
Made up for not being able to visit Si Bea-Bea.
📍Little Cameron Highland in the cool breeze: Loken Barn
Must-try—Avocado Coffee 🥑☕️
The avocado aroma and the bittersweetness of the coffee are just the right balance.
📍DAY 4
After two days on the volcano, it's time to head down to the base!
Pasar Buah Berastagi
The fruit is huge and fresh, and you can even go horseback riding?
✅ Only 35,000 rupiah (about RM10)—super cheap!
🌸Lavender Farm Café
Although it's called a café, it's actually
💜A vast expanse of purple lavender fields!
I couldn't leave empty-handed!
I brought their famous kek lapis (thousand-layer cake)
