Malacca Foodie Guide: Nyonya Feast at One of My Favourite Nyonya Restaurants.

Dining at the Restoran Baba Ang always feels like stepping back in time. Housed in a beautifully preserved heritage bungalow, this is easily one of my favourite Nyonya restaurants in Melaka — perfect for gathering with friends over comforting Peranakan flavours.
On this visit with four local friends, we indulged in a hearty spread: the Signature Pongteh Chicken was rich and flavourful, the Sambal Prawn delivered a spicy kick, and the Oysters Omelette was wonderfully crisp on the outside yet soft inside. The Sambal Fish, Stuffed Bean Curd, and Sambal Lady Fingers were equally satisfying, each dish showcasing the bold yet balanced flavours of Nyonya cooking.
We ended our meal on a sweet note with their famous Baba Cendol — fragrant gula melaka syrup over silky green jelly and creamy coconut milk, the perfect finish to a rich feast.
▶️ Do note: reservations are a must here, as the restaurant’s popularity and limited seating make it a hot spot for both locals and visitors.
🕚 Restoran Baba Ang is open daily from 11am – 2 pm, and 6pm – 9 pm. Closed on Wednesday.
📍310, Jln Parameswara, Kampung Bandar Hilir, 75000 Melaka.
