Outdoor enthusiasts, this is a must-try! Rainy Bu is truly a secret garden at the foot of Meili Snow Mountain. With no road access, you can only get there by hiking or riding a mule. Cell phone signals are spotty, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. 😌
The classic 4-day route (starting from Xidang and exiting through Ninong) is amazing! On the first day, hike from Xidang to Lower Rainy Bu Village. Climbing to the Nanzong Pass offers stunning views of the Meili Snow Mountain peaks, and you might even catch the breathtaking golden glow of the mountains at sunset. If you're not up for the physical challenge, you can ride a mule for about 300 yuan—super convenient! 🌅
On the second day, head to the Sacred Waterfall, a 4-hour round trip. Many Tibetan locals come here to pray. In June, the mountains are covered with blooming rhododendrons, making it a photographer's paradise! On the third day, challenge yourself with a hike to the Ice Lake. Pass through Xiaonong Base Camp and ascend to the Ice Lake at an altitude of 3,800 meters, where you can admire the majestic Kawagebo Peak up close. The lake's blue hue is as dazzling as a gemstone. 💎
Be mindful of your gear! High-top hiking boots, trekking poles, and waterproof jackets and pants are essential. The Ninong Gorge has lots of loose rocks, so hiking boots are a must for safety. Trekking poles can save you half the effort, and the strong winds at the pass make a windproof jacket indispensable. 🧥
Pay attention to altitude sickness and weather conditions! Rainy Bu Village is at an altitude of 3,100 meters, so avoid taking a shower on the first day and prepare some Rhodiola supplements. From June to August, rain is frequent, so bring a waterproof backpack and rain gear.
This hike is moderately challenging and manageable for those with a basic fitness level. June offers fewer crowds and stunning scenery. If you want to experience the sacredness of Meili Snow Mountain and the tranquility of Tibetan villages, start planning your trip now!
