A Must-Read Guide to Yubeng, a Fairytale Snow Mountain Village

🏡 Yubeng Village was the last destination on this Yunnan snow mountain trip. The process of entering the village can be described as crossing mountains and ridges, which is no exaggeration. Here is a simple summary of a few points to share with you.
·
❶ Entry Policy
This is mainly for winter. Be sure to check with the hotel one day in advance to see if you can enter the village the next day, and even confirm with the hotel again before departure on the same day. The weather in the mountains is ever-changing. Even if the parking lot is sunny, it may already be snowing heavily on the mountain.
-
❷ Entry Time
Although the general entry time is from 9am to 4pm, don't wait until the last minute to go. This is still due to the rapidly changing weather. Especially in winter, 3pm or 4pm is already quite late. The mountain roads are prone to icing. Once the road conditions are bad, off-road vehicles will stop carrying passengers. It is recommended to arrive at the parking lot around 12pm.
-
❸ Entry Transportation
The regular route is to park your car in the parking lot at the foot of the mountain, and then take a local off-road vehicle. The off-road vehicle ride takes about 40 minutes to an hour. Don't think that you can only take a local off-road vehicle for some purpose. You need to cross two mountain passes from the parking lot to Yubeng. The whole road is unpaved muddy ground. First of all, the road conditions have certain requirements for the vehicle, and secondly, the risk factor is relatively high for drivers without off-road experience. In addition, it is quite difficult for those who are prone to motion sickness. Sitting in the passenger seat should be better.
Hiking into the village is another way, but we didn't try it. According to other partners, it takes about seven hours for a one-way trip. It is recommended to think twice before trying.
-
❹ Cost
The entrance ticket to Yubeng Village is CNY 55/person, the off-road vehicle ticket to enter the village is CNY 260/person, and the off-road vehicle ticket to leave the village is CNY 200/person.

❺ About Luggage
It is recommended to only carry a bag when entering the village, and do not bring large suitcases. This point was indeed completely ignored by us. Each off-road vehicle will seat seven people, and there is almost no space in the trunk. Slightly larger or thicker suitcases cannot be put in. More importantly, even if you successfully enter the village, you may encounter bad weather when you leave the village and need to walk (like us...). When dragging a suitcase on the muddy ground, I really hope it can fly down the mountain sensibly.
