A Journey to the Town in the Clouds — Mestia

Hidden deep in the Caucasus Mountains, Mestia is like a town from a fairytale. In October, the skies are brilliantly blue, the snow-capped peaks stand silently over the valleys, and the crisp mountain air feels fresh and pure.

The moment I arrived in Mestia, I was struck by its calmness and untouched beauty. The journey there was breathtaking — winding mountain roads, golden forests, and distant glaciers glimmering under the sunlight. The tall stone towers that rise above the town are symbols of the Svan people, who have lived here for centuries, guarding their land and traditions.

I wandered through the narrow streets of Mestia, stepping on cobblestone paths lined with wooden houses and cozy cafés. The locals were warm and welcoming, always greeting me with kind smiles. In the afternoon, I hiked up a small hill overlooking the town. As the sun began to set, golden light spilled across the snowy mountains, turning everything soft and dreamlike.

That evening, I enjoyed a comforting meal in a small local restaurant — traditional Georgian dishes like Khachapuri (cheese bread) and Chashushuli (beef stew). Outside, snowflakes drifted down quietly, while inside, the fire crackled warmly. It was a peaceful and unforgettable moment.
