6000 Yuan for 5 Days and 4 Nights in Xichang! A Complete Family Travel Guide for Three, Enjoying Sunbathing, Riding Around Qionghai, Watching Rockets, Stargazing—Affordable and Healing

Who says traveling with kids has to be expensive? Our family of three just returned from Xichang, spending a total of 5920 yuan over 5 days and 4 nights. The child got tanned but smiled even sweeter, and my wife said this was the most relaxing vacation in three years! Sunshine, lake, starry sky, rockets... all arranged! This high cost-performance family guide helps you travel easily without overspending!

💰 Budget Breakdown (3 people) | Total: 5920 yuan
✅ Transportation: 1800 yuan | ✅ Accommodation: 1600 yuan | ✅ Food: 1400 yuan | ✅ Tickets + Activities: 920 yuan | ✅ Others: 200 yuan

📅 Day 1: Arrive in Xichang → Check into Qionghai Homestay → Ride Around the Lake and Watch the Sunset
🚄 Chengdu → Xichang high-speed train second-class seat ¥155/person ×3 = ¥465 (round trip ¥930), about 2.5 hours, free ticket for children.
🏡 Stay at a family-friendly homestay near Qionghai Wetland (4 nights ¥1600), just a 3-minute walk to the lake, spacious room with balcony.
🚴 Rent a three-person bike in the afternoon (¥30/hour), ride along Huanhai East Road, check in at the popular “Sky Mirror” shallow beach, perfect for sunset photos!

🍽️ Dinner: Locals recommend Xiao Ye BBQ, with meatballs, roasted baby potatoes, and sauerkraut soup, all for just ¥80 for three people.

📅 Day 2: Qionghai Boat Tour + Xibo Crane Shadow + Sea Time Night Market
🚤 Morning boat tour on Qionghai (¥45/person ×3 = ¥135), passing “Xibo Crane Shadow,” egrets flying together, the child excitedly shouted, “The cranes are here!”
🌳 Afternoon visit to Dream Water Town Wetland Park (free), stroll on the boardwalk, reeds swaying, every photo looks like a forest masterpiece.
🌙 Evening at Sea Time Night Market, drink freshly squeezed pomegranate juice (¥10), eat grilled cheese, watch the light and music fountain, the child didn’t want to leave.

📅 Day 3: Xichang Satellite Launch Center Day Tour
🚌 Join a local pure-play small group (¥260/person ×3 = ¥780 including round-trip transport + tickets), family-friendly, no shopping stops.
🚀 The child saw the rocket launch tower up close, listened to the guide’s space stories, eyes wide open: “I want to be an astronaut when I grow up!”
🍱 Lunch at a farmhouse restaurant outside the base, Yi-style tofu rice, ¥35 per person, clean and affordable.

📅 Day 4: Lushan Monkey Valley + Guangfu Temple + Yi Culture Experience
🐒 Taxi to Lushan (round trip ¥100), cable car optional (¥40/person round trip), we chose to hike up for exercise.
🏯 Climb to visit Guangfu Temple, feed the macaques (be careful not to show food with your hands), overlook the full view of Qionghai, breathtaking!
🎨 Afternoon back in town for Yi Handicraft Workshop (¥50/person ×3 = ¥150), learn to make torch models and butter tea, the child brought home a handmade little torch as a souvenir.

📅 Day 5: Free Activities + Return Trip
🌞 Sleep in naturally, enjoy the free breakfast prepared by the homestay owner on the balcony.
🛍️ Before leaving, buy souvenirs near Yuecheng Square:
Jianchang smoked duck ¥100, Yi embroidery keychains ¥20×3, plateau honey ¥60
🚄 Return by high-speed train, the child fell asleep leaning against the window, still clutching the little torch.

📌 Money-Saving Tips:
- Book train tickets and homestays one week in advance for lower prices
- Plenty of dining options around Qionghai, avoid restaurants inside scenic spots
- Choose daytime boat tours for better value; night light cruises are expensive and not suitable for kids
- Bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses! Strong UV rays can cause sunburn in one day

This trip had no luxury hotels,
but there were children chasing waves,
our quiet talks under the starry sky,
and the pride of the whole family gazing at the rocket launch tower.

Spending less than 6000 yuan brought us a family full of sunshine and memories—Xichang is definitely worth visiting again.
