📝 Review
When visiting Dahu, Miaoli, strawberries are a must-try, and "Flower Lane and Grass Courtyard Cafe" transforms this local specialty into a sweet feast for both the palate and the eyes. Upon first entering, I was greeted by the fragrance of flowers and the chirping of birds. The seasonal flowers in the courtyard, paired with the red-tiled cottages and wooden tables and chairs, create an ambiance reminiscent of a European countryside.
Opening the door to the cafe, the interior is warm and bright. Large floor-to-ceiling windows bring in the garden view outside, and the changing light and shadows in the afternoon sun make time seem to slow down. When ordering, I chose the Strawberry Pancake without hesitation. After all, Dahu's strawberries are the very soul of this place.
Soon after, the waiter arrived with a plate of stunning pancakes. The golden, fluffy pancakes were topped with vibrant, juicy fresh strawberries, paired with a light layer of whipped cream and a drizzle of strawberry jam for a truly stunning visual experience. I took a bite and found the slightly crispy outer layer and the soft, fluffy inner layer blending perfectly with the tart sweetness of the strawberries, perfectly balanced by the smooth, creamy texture, creating a sweet yet not overpowering experience. In that moment, I truly felt like I was "eating spring in my mouth."
As I ate my pancake, I looked out the window. Sunlight streamed through the garden, butterflies fluttered among the flowers, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves. This atmosphere made it impossible to put down my phone and simply enjoy the present moment. The occasional laughter from the table next to me or the chirping of birds in the distance naturally lifted my spirits.
What I particularly loved was that this place wasn't just a cafe; it was a place for relaxation. Many people bring their cameras to take photos, and whether they're sitting in the courtyard's rattan chairs or strolling the garden paths with a cup of coffee, they can capture postcard-worthy photos. It's also a great place for family gatherings, where children can run around in the courtyard while adults leisurely sip coffee and chat.
Compared to crowded and noisy city cafes, Huaxiangcaonong's uniqueness lies in its slow pace. You can slowly savor the sweetness of the pancakes, slowly absorb the beauty of the garden, slowly chat with your companions, and even slowly have a conversation with yourself. It's a kind of "leisure surrounded by flowers and plants" that you can't find anywhere else.
As I finished the last bite of my strawberry pancake, I felt a little reluctant to leave. This dessert didn't just fill my stomach; it gave me a romantic afternoon memory. Next time I visit Dahu, I'll definitely come here again, order another strawberry pancake, sit in the courtyard, and rediscover that sweetness.
