Shengxing Station

🚂 Shengxing Station, located in Sanyi Township, Miaoli, sits at an altitude of 402.93 meters, making it the highest point on Taiwan's western railway. It is a century-old station on the former TRA Mountain Line, first opened in 1907. The wooden Japanese-style station building, constructed with cypress wood, features tiger-tooth eaves believed to ward off evil spirits. After ceasing operations in 1998, it was transformed into a popular tourist attraction.

The surrounding area includes Shengxing Old Street, the former Mountain Line railway, a group of nine tunnels, and the Longteng Broken Bridge. Visitors can enjoy activities like rail biking, savoring Hakka cuisine (such as flat noodles and mochi), and exploring camphor wood essential oil crafts. The station stands as a testament to the forestry and railway history of Miaoli's mountain towns and is now a hotspot for events like the Tung Blossom Festival and railway culture activities.
