[Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture] Mishima Taisha Shrine

It's a short walk from Mishima Station, but it's within walking distance. The grounds are quite large and it's a solemn place surrounded by sacred ponds and trees.
During the Kamakura period, this shrine influenced Minamoto no Yoritomo and Hojo Masako. The main hall is designated as an Important Cultural Property.
In spring, the Somei Yoshino cherry trees on the approach to the shrine, Mishima cherry trees, and weeping cherry trees around the sacred pond bloom, so I'd like to visit at that time of year too.
You can enjoy the lucky rice cake Fukutaro at Fukutaro Teahouse in the shrine grounds. "Fukutaro" is a grass mochi wrapped in smooth bean paste. It was delicious.
