Japan🇯🇵Secret Scenic Views of Shikoku, "Iya Vine Bridge", "Manneken Pis"

Iya Kazura Bridge (かずら橋) is a popular tourist attraction in Tokushima, Shikoku. It is one of the three most unique bridges in Japan. The bridge is made of wild vines in the mountains and forests. It is 45 meters long and 14 meters from the valley below. The vine bridge is hollow, with cliffs and canyons below, and it was snowing lightly❄️, so crossing the bridge will be slower and more careful, but the scenery is beautiful.

It is said that in the early days, the defeated soldiers of the Genpei War fled here. In order to prevent the enemy from pursuing them, they built a bridge with vines. If the enemy came, they could quickly cut off the vine bridge and stop the enemy's attack.

In order to see Iya Komono, we had to take a dangerous mountain road that was only wide enough for one vehicle. I came here nervously, fearing the oncoming vehicles on the narrow road.
The "Peeing Monk", or "Peeing Boy", stands on the cliff of the Iya Gorge and pisses towards the valley 200 meters below with his lower body sticking out. His movements and expressions are very funny. It is said that in the past, villagers from the Iya Valley came here to test their courage, and later they built the "Peeing Monk" here. In autumn, you can see a little monk urinating in front of the stunning scenery of red leaves covering the mountains, which fully demonstrates the restrained humor of the Japanese people.
