🖼️ More than art - it’s a penetration into Russian soul

I visited The State Tretyakov Gallery during the May holiday. If you enjoy a quiet gallery experience, holidays are not ideal, as many people also visit this popular museum. Everyone should visit this museum to truly appreciate Russian art and culture, in my opinion. Tickets can be purchased online or at the museum. Buying them online can spare you from long queues. You don't need an audio guide, but if interested, you can buy one with your ticket. I always opt for the audio guide since it offers a great opportunity to learn more about art. In May 2025, ticket prices were 700 rubles; however, I'm uncertain if this is the universal price. Prices for foreigners might vary. For my first visit, I chose the regular exhibition. With numerous paintings and sculptures across two floors, it takes about 4 hours to view it all, but I only explored the second floor (halls 1-31), spending 2 hours there. You don't have to tour the entire exhibition in one go; you can return, but you'll need another ticket. The second floor features works by famous Russian artists like Ivan Shishkin, Ilya Repin, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Mikhail Vrubel, Ivan Aivazovsky, and others. Each hall provides artist information on large tablets in multiple languages, although the painting titles are only in Russian. In the end, if you adore classical art, you'll thoroughly enjoy your visit!
