Meiling Scenic Area is located in Wanli District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It faces Poyang Lake to the east and Lushan Mountain to the north. It covers an area of about 150 square kilometers. It is a summer resort and the birthplace of Chinese classical music and Taoist Jingming Sect.
The highest point of Meiling Scenic Area is 841 meters above sea level (Xiyao Lake). The main attractions include: Xiyao Lake Summer Resort, Tianning Ancient Temple, one of the largest nunneries in Jiangnan, the practice place of Ling Lun, the ancestor of Chinese music, Hongya Danjing, one of the ten scenic spots in ancient Nanchang, Huanggu Tomb, the largest royal tomb in Jiangxi Province, as well as Lion Peak, Jiaoyutan Waterfall Area, Zhaiyan Temple, Ziyangguan, Dengxian Cave, Zhenjun Tomb, and Fang Zhimin Martyr's Tomb.
On July 17, 2017, Meiling National Forest Park in Wanli District was awarded the title of "Jiangxi Province's First Provincial Forest Health Base". It is the first forest park in the province and the only one in the city to receive this honor.
Subtropical monsoon climate;
Meiling Mountain boasts lush forests and a cool climate. Xiyao Lake, located in front of the main peak, Luohanling, stands at 842 meters above sea level, the highest point in the city. The average summer temperature is a mere 22.6 degrees Celsius, 8-10 degrees Celsius lower than the urban area. This makes it a rare "cool island" in Nanchang, one of my country's "Four Furnaces." Xiyao Lake Villa, built in 1985, is a new summer resort, perfect for summer travel.
Ziyang Palace
Ziyang Palace is a Taoist temple built by locals to commemorate Deng Yu. Constructed entirely of granite, the stone buildings are majestic and magnificent. The characters "Ziyang Palace" are engraved in the center of the crossbeam in front of the gate, and a stone statue of Deng Yu is enshrined within the palace.
Medicine Washing Lake
Xiyao Lake, located on Luohan Ridge, the main peak of Meiling Mountain, covers an area of over ten mu. Legend has it that the great Ming Dynasty physician Li Shizhen once led his disciples here to collect and wash herbs, hence the name Xiyao Lake. Local legend also purports that Li Tieguai, one of the "Eight Immortals," washed his feet here, leading locals to call it "Xijiaowu."
Tianning Ancient Temple
Tianning Ancient Temple is located in Gangxia Village, 18 kilometers north of Nanchang City. It is surrounded by a magnificent building complex. This is Tianning Ancient Temple, the largest Buddhist Zen site in Wanli District.
