🌸 A Cherry Blossom That Has Bloomed for 1,300 Years—Visiting the Usuzumi Sakura in Neodani, Gifu

📍Neodani, Motosu District, Gifu Prefecture

With the arrival of spring, a mystical cherry blossom emerges among the mountains of Gifu.
The Usuzumi Sakura, one of Japan's three most famous cherry trees, boasts an age of over 1,500 years. Its majestic appearance, white in full bloom and turning a faintly inky gray as it falls, truly evokes the ephemerality of life.

🗓 Pale Ink Cherry Blossoms and Best Viewing Times
• Typical viewing time: Late March to early April (later than in the city due to the high elevation)
• Estimated full bloom: Around April 1st in warmer years, and April 5th to 10th in colder years
• Recommended time to visit: The morning of the second or third day after full bloom is the most beautiful moment, with fewer people around and the pale petals shining in the morning light.

📌 Depending on the weather, the cherry blossoms may fall all at once in a single day, so it's best to keep an eye on official information and social media.

👀 Three Tips for Enjoying Pale Ink Cherry Blossoms

① Visit around 7:00 AM to enjoy the silence and morning mist.

This is the best time for photos. It's before the tourist buses arrive, so there are fewer people around.

② Aim for the flowers just before they fall.

The "pale ink" state of the flowers, where the color of the flowers fades to a light gray, truly represents the true essence of Pale Ink Cherry Blossoms.
The best time to visit is three to four days after full bloom.

③ The riverside promenade from Tarumi Station to the park is also recommended.

During full bloom, there's a quiet walking path where spring wildflowers, such as descendants of pale pink cherry trees and forsythia, bloom in profusion.
