The Nagaoka Fireworks Festival (長岡まつり大花火大会), held annually in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture in Japan's Tohoku region, is one of Japan's three major fireworks festivals. With a spectacular display of 20,000 fireworks and a variety of festival-themed delicacies, it attracts massive crowds every year, including many international tourists eager to witness the dazzling show!

The festival takes place in early August along the banks of the Shinano River. Its main highlights include the gigantic "Sanjakudama" fireworks with a diameter of 650 meters and the "Phoenix Revival Fireworks" launched simultaneously from six locations. The breathtaking and magnificent scenes make it a must-visit event. However, keep in mind that tickets are required for on-site viewing seats. It's recommended to book early, and since the festival is held outdoors by the riverside, don't forget to prepare for mosquitoes!
