[Nagasaki] Nagasaki's famous tourist spots!

Visited in June 2023
*Dejima
6-1 Dejima-cho, Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture

Dejima is an artificial island built by order of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
It was completed in 1636 and for about 200 years, it played a major role in the modernization of Japan as the only window in Japan open to Western Europe.

The area around Dejima, which ended its role in the Meiji period, was reclaimed and its original fan-shaped form floating in the sea disappeared, but in 1951, Nagasaki City began restoration and maintenance of Dejima, and to date, 16 buildings and landscapes have been restored to their original appearance.
The space spreads out as if you had traveled back in time to the beginning of the 19th century✨

In 2017, the Dejima Omotemon Bridge was completed, and you can now enter and exit Dejima by crossing it just like in the old days😊

In addition to exhibits of rooms that mimic life in the Edo period and materials unearthed during excavations, you can also enjoy meals in a Western-style building that remains from the Meiji period and seasonal events, and it is gaining popularity as a tourist destination representing Nagasaki🎵
