Address: 2-10 Minami-Yamatemachi, Nagasaki City, 850-0931
Prayer Hill Picture Book Museum: Picture books originated in Britain, and Nagasaki's Minami-Yamate district was the only place in Japan that had exchanges with Western Europe in the 19th century. The Prayer Hill Picture Book Museum is built on this small hill full of history. Its unique Western-style fairy-tale architecture is a sight to behold. The Western-style garden is beautiful, and you can still take photos among the lush greenery even if you don't go inside.
The second and third floors of the Prayer Hill Picture Book Museum feature permanent exhibitions and planned exhibitions of original paintings from home and abroad. The first floor of the Prayer Hill Picture Book Museum is a shop that is free to visit; the second and third floors are exhibition halls that require an admission fee.
