Okinawa's hidden culinary treasure: Century-old family Agu Pork Shabu-Shabu

During my independent travels in Okinawa, I discovered a hidden gem that will delight both my taste buds and my soul—Ufuya! Located in Nago City, this restaurant not only lets you savor Okinawa's premium Agu pork, but also immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of a century-old Ryukyu mansion. From the ambiance to the food, every second is a must-see! 📸 Follow me on a visual and culinary journey through Okinawa! 🏝️

📍 Location: Ufuya
📍 Address: 90 Nakayama, Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan
🚗 Transportation: Driving recommended. Map code: 206 745 056*82. It's about a 30-minute drive from Churaumi Aquarium. Free parking is super convenient!
🕒 Opening Hours: Lunch 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Dinner 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM
💡 Reservation Tips: Extremely popular, we recommend booking in advance on the official website to avoid the long lines!

🌿 Ambience: Journey back in time to the Ryukyu era and immerse yourself in the beauty of this historic residence
The moment you step inside this century-old residence, you'll be instantly captivated by its ambiance! Renovated from the century-old Asato family residence, this restaurant retains the traditional Okinawan red-tiled roof and wooden structure. The garden features a small waterfall, gurgling water, and lush green paths, creating a feeling of stepping into the pages of the Ryukyu Dynasty. 🌳 The parking lot is about a five-minute walk from the restaurant, and there are adorable driverless golf carts to pick you up along the way—super fun!
We chose a semi-outdoor seating area by the flowing water, surrounded by a gentle breeze and the gurgling water. It's the kind of soothing dining experience city dwellers crave! 🍃 Every corner is photogenic, creating Instagram-worthy photos with just a click. Highly recommend dressing up in Japanese-style attire to create the perfect look! 📷

🍴 Food: Agu Pork Shabu Shabu, the Soul of Okinawa
This time, I ordered the signature Special Agu Pork Shabu Shabu Set (3,850 yen/person), which includes an agu pork platter, seasonal vegetables, Okinawan handmade noodles, dessert, and a drink. It's an incredible value! 🐖 Agu pork, a type of black pork unique to Okinawa, is tender and rich in flavor. Dipped in the sweet and refreshing broth, it melts in your mouth and you can't stop eating! 😍
The set also comes with complimentary purple sweet potato rice balls and sea grapes, which are refreshing and have a touch of Okinawan flavor, perfectly balancing the richness of the shabu-shabu.

💡 Travel Tips
1. Best time to visit: Lunchtime is when the sun shines into the garden, making for stunning photos; dinnertime is illuminated by lights, creating a romantic atmosphere. 2. Nearby Attractions: After dinner, you can visit Nago Pineapple Farm or Kouri Island, both within a 30-minute drive, making for a perfect day trip!
3. Recommended Budget: Approximately 4,000-5,000 yen per person

🌟 Overall Rating: 9/10
