Review of Oriental Hotel Okinawa Resort & Spa

Review of Oriental Hotel Okinawa Resort & Spa

Summary (For those who don't want to read too much, just read these three lines):
Great location, excellent service, and a natural setting. When you come to Okinawa, you'll definitely want to swim. Finally, breakfast is a must-try.

The hotel entrance is clearly signposted. The receptionist is at the front, offering assistance and check-in without any wait. There are several counters. The receptionist provided extensive guidance and explanations, including coupons and promotions.

I'm already a member of the Oriental Group this time, and was upgraded to a high-floor room (the hotel has 15 floors, and I stayed on the 14th floor). If you're planning to stay here, sign up for a membership before booking, as memberships offer numerous discounts, freebies, and access to hotel news and information.

1. The room... was incredibly spacious. The bathroom itself was the same size as some other hotel rooms.

There's a generous amenity kit. If you don't think it's enough, you can grab some in the lobby (at the check-in counter). A key feature of Japanese hotels is the welcome snacks. Here, they also offer purple sweet potato mochi, a delicious treat that pairs well with tea or coffee.

The rooms have balconies that open out to the outside for a cool breeze. Even without a balcony, there's a sofa and a large glass window (it shouldn't be called glass, because the walls are all glass, transparent, and the view from the 14th floor is amazing).

The bed is large and soft, and the pillows come in both soft and firm options (I prefer hard pillows).

2. What's in the hotel?

Simply put, the swimming pool.
I can't count how many swimming pools there are, but the hotel says they're about 170 meters long. Go for it if you're up for it.

This is probably one of the hotel's selling points, as the swimming pools are open year-round. Come enjoy the cool, hot, and rainy season!

In winter, the pools are warm.
In summer, they're crowded, and all the pools are open at the same time, so there's no crowding.
During the rainy season, there's an indoor pool available.

The highlight is the low-temperature sauna room next to the pool. It's a warming room for those feeling a little chilly. The temperature is set at 60 degrees Celsius.

There are jacuzzis and tubs in several corners. It also helps keep you warm.

There are two water slides, which kids will love (and even adults will love). The long, spiraling slide has a height restriction. You must be over 120 cm tall. Children under 120 cm can play on the smaller slides, but the smaller slides are already fun.

The pool's safety meets Japanese standards. Staff are stationed around the pool, ensuring that the height limit for the slides is maintained. Even a single centimeter isn't a problem, as it's a true Japanese safety principle.

In April, the weather is starting to warm up, but it's still a little chilly for swimming. However, this hotel has carefully considered the heated pool and sauna, making it suitable for both children and adults.

3. Breakfast
There are two options (the third is exclusive to the club rooms).
The first is Jinanbou, an Okinawan buffet restaurant. This restaurant can accommodate only 100 guests per day (over 100, there's a queue, but the first 100 guests will be served first). This restaurant's selling point is Okinawan cuisine. Don't rush to find something else to eat. Try it this morning and see what you like, then go back for another round. Another highlight of this restaurant is the kaisendon, where you can create your own kaisendon. They have ten different types of fish, so you can create your own. Fresh shrimp, excellent crab, and even unagi eel are also available.

Qwachi Restaurant
For those who were disappointed and couldn't eat at Jinanbou because of the long queue, don't be disappointed. Qwachi Restaurant is a grand international buffet with both Japanese and Western styles. There are so many delicious dishes. However, everyone's tastes are different, and a hundred people have a hundred different preferences. Let me review my personal favorites.
Eggs Benedict - A waffle base with smoked salmon and an onsen egg topped with the hotel's Benedict sauce. This dish is amazing.
Hamburger - Okinawa has a hamburger culture, and this hotel's food is excellent, especially the meat. (Truffle sauce is also available.)
Salad - A variety of vegetables. Grab whatever you like, but they also have a pre-made Caesar salad. I really enjoyed it. I had three. I felt like I couldn't go wrong with the salad. (Salad dressing not included)
Orange juice - Freshly squeezed, pressed manually from the juicer on top. Staff periodically load pre-washed oranges into the machine. Anyone who wants one just presses a button and the machine squeezes them. Another great dish.
Taco rice - Another fusion of Okinawan and Western styles, equally flavorful.
At the juice counter, staff offer a variety of smoothies. Just ask the staff for any you want.

Club Lounge Restaurant
I didn't use this one because I didn't book a club room. The atmosphere is private, not crowded, and luxurious, reflecting my status. This room is open all day, offering breakfast, afternoon tea, and pre-dinner drinks.

If you're staying overnight and skipping breakfast, you can skip it for lunch. Tell the staff in advance. Or if you're in a rush, they can prepare a bento box to take home.

④ Service and Activities
All staff understand the importance of service. I think this is partly due to the management's attention to detail in the hotel's operations.

Stay at this hotel and don't worry about having nothing to do or going anywhere. There's plenty to do while you're just lounging around. Outside of Okinawa, there are tourist attractions, golf courses, and various marine activities. This hotel also offers a variety of services and recommendations. Inside the hotel, guests can participate in a variety of activities, including fireworks, water guns, live music, fire shows, and more.

Souvenirs, local specialties, snacks, and souvenirs are also available at the hotel shop.

The fitness center features treadmills, bicycles, and other top-quality equipment.

The hotel is not directly on the beach, but a shuttle service is available. The ride takes about 3 minutes to the beach on the hotel's property.
