During my trip to Aichi, I visited the Atsuta Shrine Kusanagi Hall.
The Atsuta Shrine Kusanagi Hall displays the tachi and katana swords (including wakizashi and tanto swords) owned by Atsuta Shrine, including some dating back to the Kamakura period. The contrast between the blades of these ancient swords, which appear as if they were just recently forged, and the tangs that reveal their age, is truly stunning. The more I examine the Japanese swords, the more I discover new things, and it's so much fun. At the Kusanagi Hall, a video explains the relationship between Susanoo-no-Mikoto, Yamato Takeru-no-Mikoto, and the Kusanagi sword, as well as why the Kusanagi sword is enshrined at Atsuta Shrine, providing fascinating insight into ancient Japanese mythology. The hall also displays an impressive odachi sword worn by a warrior of the Asakura clan during the Sengoku period, and an interesting feature is the display of a model of the sword at the entrance.
Please note that photography was prohibited inside Kusanagi Hall.
It's definitely worth a visit!
