Nagoya, Japan|A Crab Meat Restaurant with Half a Century of History

In addition to Kani Doraku, Sapporo Kaniya, which has a history of nearly half a century, is also a very famous crab cuisine restaurant in Japan. Looking at the name of the store, everyone may think that it should be located in Hokkaido, but unexpectedly, Sapporo Kaniya's head office and flagship store are actually in Nagoya 🙈. The [Nagoya Ekimae Store] that we visited today has a wide variety of seat types and quantities, from small private rooms for 1-2 people to party halls for more than 30 people. There are nearly 500 seats in total, but there are still many people queuing during dinner time. Fortunately, I made a reservation in advance that night.

With a difficult choice, I ordered the most expensive Takasago kaiseki. The appetizers served first were exquisite and surprising. The chrysanthemum vinegar was refreshing and appetizing, the Hida beef was tender and meaty, the pickled scallops were sweet with a hint of saltiness, the tamago was sweet with a hint of moisture, and the crab meat sushi was refreshing and fresh. Five flavors and five textures, it was wonderful but I felt a little unsatisfied after eating it. Another appetizer, crab roe tofu, was also excellent, with a dense texture and exuding bursts of sweet crab roe flavor, and paired with kelp soup and mustard just neutralized the greasiness.

The set meal mainly uses king crab and snow crab, and presents the freshness of crab in the form of sashimi, steamed, baked, teppanyaki, tempura and nigiri sushi. There is not too much fancy cooking and seasoning. The crab meat is plump, juicy and delicious. Even the medium toro sashimi that comes with the order is of a certain standard, which satisfies the desire to taste crab very well, but it is relatively nothing amazing.

Finally, miso soup, hot tea and dessert were served. The miso soup was generous with crab meat, and although the dessert of fresh fruit cheese was refreshing and refreshing, it always felt a little out of place 😂 In short, the service was very thoughtful, the decoration and tableware were both grand and high-end, the food was solid, and it was a good time to experience kaiseki cuisine while the Japanese exchange rate index was low.

☎️Reservation method: Google Map / 食べログ
I left a Hong Kong phone number on Google Map for this reservation, and someone will call me long distance to reconfirm the reservation later (although the caller didn’t speak English very well, he tried his best. If you don’t understand, just say yes yes yes, and you will receive another email to confirm the reservation later)
