The head temple of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism in the Ryukyu Kingdom! "Engakuji Temple Ruins"

During my trip to Okinawa, I visited the tourist spot "Engakuji Temple Ruins".
"Engakuji Temple" was founded in 1492 by King Sho Shin as the family temple of the second Sho Dynasty, and became the head temple of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism in the Ryukyu Kingdom. The temple was founded in Kyoto's Nanzenji Temple, and the building was modeled after Engakuji Temple in Kamakura, with Shaka Nyorai as the principal image. It was destroyed in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945, and the current main gate was restored in 1968, and is the only remaining wooden structure.
Currently, only the main gate and the Hojo Pond have been rebuilt, and are designated tangible cultural properties by Okinawa Prefecture.
The remains of the Buddhist temple from the Ryukyu Dynasty are worth a visit!
