🍜 Gamou Udon in Sakaide, a true local favorite where people line up for authentic flavors
No trip is complete without savoring the local cuisine!
Located in Sakaide City, Kagawa Prefecture, Gamou Udon is a popular spot where locals queue up from early morning.
Though it looks like a humble countryside house from the outside, stepping inside greets you with the warm aroma of freshly made udon.
The noodles are chewy and firm, while the broth is clean and rich in umami. You can even choose your own toppings, but since the tempura was sold out, I enjoyed a simple yet satisfying bowl of udon 😍.
Even without the tempura, it’s easy to see why this place is considered the holy ground of Sanuki Udon.
Its straightforward yet profound flavors truly embody Japan’s soul food.

🍶 A place where tradition comes alive: Kotohira Kinryo Sake Museum (金陵の郷)
Under the warm Kotohira sunlight, stepping into the old wooden buildings of the museum feels like entering a preserved slice of history.
This isn’t just a museum—it’s a space that retains the essence of traditional sake brewing.
The tiled roofs of the old brewery, creaky wooden floors, and traditional tools scattered throughout evoke a sense of traveling back in time.
You can observe the sake-making process firsthand, and the museum is free to enter, making it an easy and enjoyable stop.
The interior is thoughtfully arranged, allowing visitors to stroll leisurely and soak in the atmosphere. Take a moment to appreciate the tradition and enjoy the serene charm of Kotohira!
