北回归线 aka the Latitude Line dividing the Climate !!!

I personally had no idea what “北回归线 ” meant before going to Nan Ao island.
Generally speaking , the areas between the “ 北回归线” Northern Tropic and “南回归线” Southern Tropic are the places blessed with most sunlight.
The area beyond that two latitude line gets lesser sun , shorter daylights and colder weather.

So , how to get there ??

Nan Ao Island is very near to Shantou City just across the Ocean-Bridge , located in the South China Sea. You can have a day trip from Shantou or spend 2 days 1 night trip on the island.

It’s 5 hrs drive from Guangzhou, I went there together with my 3 other friends with a rental car
( if you are budget traveller or have lesser travel companions , it’s advised to take High-Speed train to Shantou , then take a bus to the island and hire an E-Bike to tour around the Island )

You can always book the train ticket on Trip.com or buy at the counter.

The route on the island is in Circular route and so you just need to follow the route , take your time and enjoy the nature. No need to worry about getting lost !

The nearest residential area is on the right side as you cross the bridge from Shantou to the island. 🏝️

At night , many Big Green Lights lighting up for the Fishing Boats 🚤 and the Lights from the Boats themselves lit up the sky , giving you a kinda Northern Light Vibe.

You can see many fish farming along the island.

Some area open as beach but the other areas you can only see and Enjoy.

The Windmills , the curved roads just make you feel like you are in a Manga !!! 🥰🥰

Sunrise ( the left side of the island ) and Sunset ( The right side - the little Red Lighthouse side ) 🌅 spots differs from seasons to seasons.
So make sure you check with locals to not miss out on it !!

No worry if you can’t ride E-Bike ! You can always ask your host of Hotel or any other accommodation about Daily car rental ( Or if you have a Chinese SIM card and have access to Online Taxi booking , you can use on the island too ! )

Car rental for the Sunrise is expected to be around 2-4times higher than the normal trips as they offer only round trips.
