On this trip to Nan'ao Island, the biggest surprise was this hidden fairy-tale guesthouse in the heart of the island — Nan'ao Island Xiju Holiday Villa! It’s like a low-key art gallery, every casual shot looks like an Instagram masterpiece, and the butler-style service makes lazy vacation mode just one click away 💯
🌊 Location perks:
Houzhai Town’s prime spot is no joke! A 5-minute walk straight to the beach, with those rainbow buoys and sea swings that went viral on social media nearby. At night, stroll to Seaside Road for late-night snacks—who else understands the joy of raw marinated seafood with claypot porridge? Self-driving guests will be even more relaxed with plenty of free parking!
🎨 Visual delight:
• The designer brought minimalist arches and spiral staircases into the rooms; during the day, sunlight streams through floor-to-ceiling windows, drawing curves on the walls. I recommend wearing a light-colored long dress to play hide-and-seek with the light and shadows at the staircase corners.
• The duplex loft rooms come with a “sky mirror” effect; the tatami area on the second floor has an electric skylight, perfect for lying down and stargazing at night for maximum romance.
• Secret photo spot: the transparent swing by the garden pool, shooting against the light at 4 PM can capture fairy-like shimmering water photos.
🛋️ Living in an art gallery:
The bedding is actually 60-count cotton! Towels are disposable after use—so refreshing! Spend the afternoon lounging in front of the projector screen watching "Our Little Sister," and with the automatic curtains closed, it’s a private cinema. Clean freaks will be thrilled—the toilet seat’s disinfectant seal is untouched, and all switches are wiped shiny with alcohol pads.
🍜 Hidden menu:
The seafood mixed noodles made fresh by a Chaozhou auntie are amazing! The shrimp are thicker than chopsticks; remember to add two spoons of homemade garlic chili sauce. If you’re too lazy to go out, you can order Longjiang pig’s trotters rice delivery, and the butler will plate it on bone china (a little Michelin-style trick).
📸 Nearby walking guide:
• 5 minutes: Let’s go! Head to Seaside Road to shoot the “Lonely Tree,” don’t forget to bring a straw bag as a prop.
• 8 minutes: Check in at Qian’ao Bay Lighthouse; at low tide in the afternoon, you can walk onto the rocks to shoot scenes like in "Goblin."
• 15 minutes: Ride an electric scooter to Yun’ao Fishing Port; the scene of fishing boats returning at dusk looks like an oil painting.
⚠️ Pitfall tips:
• Book the duplex rooms during peak season! Booking 30 days in advance lets you choose the “Muyun” room with a starry sky window.
• Apply sunscreen three times! The island’s UV rays can leave sandal marks in half a day.
• Visit around the 15th day of the lunar month; the beach glows with blue tears at night, and the butler will tell you the best viewing spots.
After recommending this guesthouse to my bestie, she even brought a filming crew just for the staircase... Now every time I see a check-in photo of a spiral staircase, I think of that night soaking in the bath listening to the sound of the waves 🌌
