You can learn all about the fascinating, and sometimes a bit wild, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, and then trace the steps towards the founding of the Republic of China. It's amazing to see the physical spaces where these pivotal moments actually happened. Plus, the whole compound is surprisingly scenic. It's laid out with these gorgeous gardens that totally reminded me of the classical gardens you see in Suzhou – lots of serene spots to just soak it all in.
