Hanbi Lou is a must-have in Nanjing's luxury hotels! Facing Jiangxinzhou Island, you can overlook the vast Yangtze River!

A good hotel in Nanjing must include Hanbi Lou. This hotel brand from Taiwan is the second to be established on the mainland. Qingdao’s location is stunning enough, and this one is no less impressive. Among Nanjing’s luxury hotels, Nanjing Hanbi Lou seems a bit understated, but it is definitely one of the hotels worth experiencing in Nanjing.

1. The hotel is located in the central Hexi area at the intersection of Yangtze River Avenue and Hanzhongmen Street, facing Jiangxinzhou Island, with a front view of the vast Yangtze River and a side view of the bustling cityscape. The location is not particularly prime, but it is actually quite convenient, with major Nanjing attractions like the Presidential Palace, Confucius Temple, Xuanwu Lake, and Xinjiekou all within 6-10 kilometers. A new subway line will open next year, with the nearest station just a few hundred meters from the hotel.

2. Nanjing Hanbi Lou uses a unique terrain to create the imperial city style enclosed by traditional Chinese courtyard walls. The two main buildings are connected by glass corridors made entirely of glass curtain walls, guiding guests inside with Hanbi Lou’s distinctive water landscape culture and bamboo elements. The interior design is by Singapore’s SCDA design firm, fully utilizing the effects of light and shadow.

3. Light enters the interior through glass windows and architectural gaps, with shadows flowing and shimmering as time changes. The charm of the ancient capital of Nanjing is also reflected indoors. The designer deconstructed and reassembled the city wall bricks and stones, showcasing them with special stone materials in the hotel lobby. Climbing the steps gives a unique sense of the palace-like ritual of entering an ancient capital. Artworks are everywhere in the public spaces, carrying a historical atmosphere. Various Chinese-style decorative installations enrich the space details, full of charm.

4. The hotel has a total of 152 rooms and suites, starting at 60 square meters. Large floor-to-ceiling windows face the Yangtze River, bringing the shimmering riverbank scenery inside and allowing light and shadow to fully display their magic indoors. The hardware is excellent, with Bluetooth speakers custom-made in collaboration with BOSE, and exclusive custom bath amenities. Tea sets are also provided, so you can enjoy tea while admiring the river view in the room, which is very relaxing.

5. For dining, there is the Chinese restaurant “Shui Sha Lian,” the all-day dining restaurant “HO Jia 9,” and the lobby bar. The Chinese restaurant “Shui Sha Lian” specializes in Huaiyang cuisine and Jiang family private dishes. The restaurant’s name is derived from the ancient name of Sun Moon Lake, and the private rooms are named after places in Taiwan. The interior is decorated with designs showcasing the charm of Jinling (Nanjing). In the main hall, there is a water ripple stamp relief, which uses shallow relief to imprint early Republic of China stamps on ceramics, structured with water ripple motifs and presented as three-dimensional art. There is also an artwork titled “Tea Fragrance,” with a background of old Shanghai newspaper photos. Metal ornaments displayed in the private room corridors echo Nanjing’s past, resembling the double-eaved roofs of former palaces and temples, evoking memories of the destroyed Ming Palace and the “680 temples of the Southern Dynasties, how many pavilions and towers in the misty rain.”

6. The all-day dining restaurant “HO Jia 9” currently only offers a buffet on weekends. The overall quality is decent, and the price is reasonable. The lobby bar is a perfect place to steal a moment of leisure, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the river view. Having coffee or afternoon tea here is very pleasant.

7. When staying at the hotel, be sure to take a walk in the outdoor spaces. The hotel has a large outdoor lawn where you can stroll among ten miles of fragrant grass, lifting your spirits. The south courtyard features a mirror water pool with two sunken sofa areas in the center, and a poolside tea pavilion wrapped in latticework, appearing to float above the water. Bamboo shadows sway, water ripples shimmer, and the Zen-style beauty makes sitting here very comfortable. It can be said that the hotel is beautiful everywhere, and every snapshot looks like a masterpiece.
